Buying a Yurt is a sound investment whether you are the occasional camper, backyard enthusiast or are an avid outdoorsmen or diehard survivalist. It is one of the most versatile, stable, lightweight and practical tents on the market.
A yurt was designed by nomadic people who needed a portable shelter in a harsh climate. Originally they were made of hair and woolen felt over a wooden lattice. A yurt is more home-like in shape and build with a much sounder structure than other tent. While the were a matter of survival amongst nomadic people they are extremely popular as a shelter or even second home in the modern world.
While you can turn these sturdy lightweight structures into a year around shelter with a quick trip to a hardware store or lumber yard they are extremely well engineered and withstand many adverse weather conditions. Unlike many of the permanent yurts made of vinyl products Yurt City uses more natural canvases that do not give off offensive odors.
The Mongol is our first and smallest yurt, messuring a 12 foot wide diameter across, it is also the most light weight yurt we make, and it can shelter a single couple very comfortably.
The Chieftain is our more popular design, it can shelter a whole family with lots of room left over for a stove, a full size camping bed and fold out cotts. The Chieftain is a favorite for it's medium size (at approximatly 16 feet in diameter) and it's practicality for families and groups.
The Great Kahn is of course our pride and joy, being the largest of our yurts and messuring out to 24 feet wide in diameter, with 12ft poles, giving it a grand ora when you enter. The Kahn is great for large families, groups and gatherings.

In America yurts have become very popular. Yurt City has developed a unique lightweight ring that is extremely sturdy and engineered and built for extreme weather conditions. Their unique design allows them to be moved as often as you like. The round shape, while esthetically pleasing to the eye has the practical purpose of protecting them from extreme winds.
